Eye Blink Animation

This tutorial will guide you how to do animations with characters or any type of design even imported image. We will work frame by frame.

The theme is following:

So lets get started:

Design:

Draw whatever you want to be animated but remember that everything should be clear and neat. Lets suppose a design that we would animate:-

So its eyes', lips, and eyebrows' animation will work separately. Each and everything has been converted into sprite.

Eyes' Animation:

I have divided it into levels. So first level of eye is eye liner.

1. First the design whatever it is. Put "Move" effect on the first frame and duration should be of "5". On its next frame, put "Remove".

2. Copy this shape and paste in the scene. Now drag the move effect from where we have already logged "remove" of the previous shape.

3. Reshape this new shape, According to eye blink, slowly gets down.

4. By applying the same method, copy and paste in the scene.

5. You can consider the whole method as "move effect on the frame where previous object removes"

Repeat the first action as last action:

You don't need to stop animation, the eye blinking should not be in sequence, so simply use Telltarget after "50" or "30" frames or also its up to you.

Masking As Another Option:

Masking is also another option for the eye blinking. But the above method could be applied on every style.

So masking can be used by following the method:

1. Design the eye.

2. Make a specific area that can be easily copied and pasted.

3. See the white background in the image. It has been copied and pasted. But its "MASK" so you have to put it on the bottom.

4. The eye lashes and eye pencil should be separate. Not in the sprite where the mask will be.

5. Now draw an ellipse, fill it with the colour of eye pencil. Put "Move" effect on the first frame, and drag the ellipse to the bottom, then again put "Move" effect and drag it to upward.
